Freedom Calling

Like the current Russian incursion of Ukraine, our latest episode takes us back to 1956 when Russia invaded Hungary.

Producer Karen Heaps brings us the tale of her father, Leo Heaps, and his buddy, Jussi Brainin, to life. The two men posing as journalist and photo journalist, brave the dangers of  the Austro-Hungarian border to rescue desperate Hungarians seeking safety and refuge in foreign lands.
